Wastegate plugged

Well I was looking at my new truck the other day and noticed that the wastegate hose had been plugged up by the po.I don't know if I should leave it or enable it again.I t has not ever had any performance mods so I don't really know why it is plugged.Should I leave it?

I don't think it will hurt anything right now since you don't have any mods yet. When you start blowin smoke though you might want to watch the boost gauge.

If there are no mods, with a plugged wastegate hose you should set an overboost code. I know I did when I sent my Comp back for the Drag upgrade. Just the boost elbow and driving like an angel I still set a code. No gauges yet I assume, be nice to know what boost you're seeing...

Not tryin to steal the thread, but I have a quick question. So is it bad to have the waste gate blocked off with mods? Should I take my J-hook off with my mods?

It is only bad to have the wastegate blocked if you are boosting well in excess of 35 psi with the stock HY35 on your truck.........35 psi is probably past the ideal boost limit of the 9cm housing but is ok for a HX35........boosting past 35 psi results in a superheated air charge from an overspeeding turbo that raises the psi and will cause an egt rise......occasional spikes past 35 psi are fine......

There is no purpose on a stock 24v to block the wastegate.......no power gains - just the over boost code, the ecm will defuel in an overboost condition.......with a fueling box with a boost fooler, you could block the wastegate instead of using the boost elbow.......probably no power gain over the boost elbow, though.

Yes, hook it back up.....until you add additional fueling with a boost fooler, at least.

There wasn't a boost fooler allready installed was there???

If he had a boost fooler and the waste gate plugged I guess he'd be making a little more power, he'd continue boosting and the trruck would continue to fuel.

Have you checked it for codes?? If the waste gate is plugged there should be an overboost code as mentioned.

Will the Code affect his engine performance?? I just erased an overboost code from my truck last week, it hasn't come back yet. maybe I'm crazy but it seems to run a little better since?
