Walbro GDP392 died
#16
From my research a lot of the Walbro pumps are built with a lot of FKM materials, not too much nitrile or NBR used (at least in their solenoid style pumps). These pumps actually, as listed on their site, last longer in diesel than in gasoline due to the extra lubricity.
I think that diesel is ok around copper, I know that biodiesel will leech copper out of certain materials like brass, but only bio. There's a lot of copper used in our fuel system (and brass) from copper sealing washers to brass fittings.

I just replaced my Walbro 392 (its the 3rd Walbro 392 I've had on it!)
Was pulling the pressure down to zero as I drive and saw it come back to 10 at the lights. Pressure was fine one day, and then the next it was displaying this behavior! Replaced the filter hoping that was it. Nope.
Now it acts as expected.... 10psi at idle, and when I stand on it, pressure jumps to about 15psi.
I am not too happy with Walbro. The last pump was on it almost exactly 6 months. The one prior to that was on it probably about 2-3 years. The only thing going for it is that it's only about $120.

Wow, surprised to see my old thread revived.
Since changing my pump and pre-filter earlier in the year I have not had any issues. So far so good...

My dad recently had the 392 on his dodge fail, but DDP got him a replacement for free. I was told by DDP that Glacier had something different about their 392s in their last batch, and when they found out that they had a higher failure rate, Glacier stocked up on the older style 392 so they could replace the batch that was failing with those ones; however, Glacier ran out of those 392s, so DDP sent us out a 391 instead. I have one of the older style 392s in my truck and it's been running strong ever since it was installed. 21 psi @ idle and 14 psi @ WOT.

I've had mine on for a few years and over 60,000 miles on it without any problems. Change the prefilter on a regular basis when you change your normal filters, you should be good.

I ran one for at least 4 yrs(cant remember anymore). No problems at all untill the truck became a full time sled puller. Seems they cant supply enough fuel for the big power set ups. But it will end up on my comon rail when i get time to do it.

Also have the pre-filter, but have never changed it. Maybe I might.

I had mine die after 2 yrs. I also ran 2 stroke oil. I then lost an Airdog after 500 miles running 2 stroke...therefore I do not use 2 stroke anymore. GDP stopped selling Walbro pumps because Walbro wasn't honoring the warranty issues that GDP was sending them.

As far as why GDP doesn't sell Walbro anymore... I've heard at least three reasons... who knows which is accurate. The other one I heard is Walbro required GDP to carry ALL their products instead of just the pumps and he didn't want to do that so decided not to carry any.
