fuel mileage w/ GDP392

Last Saturday I installed the GDP392 fuel system with the big line kit. I've noticed my fuel mileage has dropped since the install. I have not calculated my mileage but the needle on my fuel gauge drops toward the E alot faster than it did before. Just wondering if you guys with this fuel system have had any issues with your mileage.

Nathan

It does not affect mileage at all...

Since you are not starving your CP3 now for fuel with any tune over 100 hp, your right foot is burning more.

Unless you for got to hook up the return line to the tank! LOL

I did not think it should affect my milage either. I have actually been driving the speed limit and have not been racing. I don't know why, but the mileage has definetly dropped.

I installed my 392 a few months ago...At first I thought the fuel mileage was going down also, but then I realized I would stand on it more, just to see if I could get the f.p. to drop more than about 2 psi . After the "newness" has worn off of having solid fuel pressure, my mileage is right back to where it was.

I haven't noticed any difference in my mileage at all since the GDP 392 install. My tank will hold more fuel now though ( about 5 gallons more) since I did the Vent tank mod....which added miles to my cruising range.

Did you boys notice any difference after the install of the GDP pump? I'm curious if there is any additional power gained while pulling hills when towing.

I haven't noticed any power gain yet, but I will be dynoing again next weekend. I really don't expect my numbers to improve much, if any. Actually I hope to just duplicate them again.

Primarily what I feel is a piece of mind knowing my FP is holding steady at 16psi + at WOT and that the fuel is being filtered down to 2 microns. That has to be much better for the CP3 and injectors than I was stock. (almost zero fp and 10 micron stock filter)

I have towed with the new pump and the FP holds great!

What would be the advantage of the Walbro -vs- the FASS? I've heard nothing but good from both units (not taking into account the louder and older FASS units).

Arka. I have done me research and tossed the two around for days. It's a consensus that the walbro is better in many ways..

Well I think I can answer both of your questions:
-for 1, I debated on which pump system to buy for quite some time, went GDP 392, and installed it last night! Great kit, easy instructions even for a rookie mechanic.
-2 I personally could tell a major difference in throttle response, spool up, and it seemed to run smoother. Not saying it was huge hp, but there is definatley some, especially with my quad box.

Overall Im happy with the kit!

It appears that the GDP392 with a filter (2 micron)/water separator setup may be the route that I go. Thanks fellas.

They are both fine units. Go with whichever design you prefer and don't look back.

My reasons for going with the Walbro kit include the pump cools itself with the fuel as it is pumping it...........and in the highly unlikely event that the walbro pump went out........you can replace it with any 12v electric fp and get home. I don't think the FASS is quite that simple. One thing about the FASS though is it is very solidly built. (overbuilt so I hear).

One more thing.......I have YET to hear about a Walbro Pump Failure on this board since so many guys started switching to them.
