vp44 to cp3

Bring on the hate!
I want to grab a CR head and do twin cp3's. Get rid of the meak vp44. Ive been building a great truck around the motor, and now its ready for power. The twin cp3 guys are at about 800hp and they can keep that cool and driveable.

DonM bring it on!

they're 2 totally different fuel delivery systems. you're better off to swap in a whole common rail engine and ECM

I think the electronics part of it would be a pain to do, why not grab a P-7100 and get it tricked out at a pump shop? Although a CP3 would be cool and VERY ... UNIQUE!

I think swapping in the fuel deliver parts that i would obviously need to connect the cp3 to the head, would be owrth it.
It will need o-rings and studs anyhow, so what the heck ya know?

Couldn't hurt to try.

But you would need the whole rail, probably the CR injectors, and the ECM...

CP3 pumps don't do timing, it is done by the electronic injector contols. I'd think you'd have to swap the whole engine, ecm, electronics, etc, etc as mentioned before.

I have seen running complete engines as low as 5K.....you would be almost nuts not to take advantage of that considering the resale value of your own engine......Cummins already did the swap for ya…..

I'm planning on swapping to a Common rail engine myself when the current engine starts getting tired. They should be well over 1000hp on fuel by then. I like the electronic adjustability and the quicker spool of the CR engines.

As I recall, another member swapped a CR engine (last year?) and had issues with the clearance of the ECM and the crossmember.
