You will get more power out of a HR vp over a SO if no fueling box is used.

I just went through this myself. I ended up going with a SO replacement. I got mine for $1050 or so. The hotrod pumps I found were $1600 or more. I figured for $600 I could get a programmer that is adjustable and would make more power than a pump could.

the thing about buying a new hot rod pump is that they have better fueling capability and already flow more fuel then the stock pump can and can handle programmer, stacks and etc. instead of the stock pump that will only last for so long being forced to work harder

They're making more power with the SO pumps than you can with the HR44.
Save your money get the SO and put a box on that truck.
You had better invest in a fuel system & gauges.

Go with the S.O. after struggling with this myself and asking the pros on this forum I couldn't be happier. JFYI when I spoke with I.I they said the H.O to S.O swap would not work and "if" it did, it would not work well "But if you buy our HRVP for $1600 you will be reeeal happy!" I did get the pump from them for $1050, but they made sure to write that I was the one who requested this pump in the event I had any problems.

I just got rid of my HRVP. Loved the pump and put out noticeable power gains, but if you read up on the pump, you will notice that on some trucks, you might get a lumpy idle (like a lumpy cam on a gasser) as well as a little pulsing during light throttle applications. I had it tested (fine) and tried on another truck (ran great, no pulsing) Just depends on the truck. If you tow at all, and your HRVP developes that pulsing, towing is very difficult. If your racing, you might be able to live with it.

Yup, but his truck is stock, with no fueling box. The question he asked was "which pump will make more power" ... In his case, the HR pump will make more power.

Vp 44

So a SO pump with a Smarty or TST will make power then a HRVP with the same Smarty or TST? What is a good combo to run I have Gauges, Intake and exhaust. I use the truck to tow and play.
