valve body, is it needed?
I have a freind with a 2002 Cummins. His truck is an automatic.
Sorry I am a manual guy. He wants to upgrade the torque converter, but I say he also at least needs a valve body. The truck is bone stock. He is planning to add a quadzilla xzt chip in the near future. We will be doing our own install so he won't be out any extra money for the install if he waits on the valve body. I guess my question is do the aftermarket converters need more pressure/flow than the stock valve body will give? TIA

Yes, more pressure and better control of pressure leaks!
I would not consider an after market convertor without a custom valve body.
A valve body with the stock convertor makes much more sense, to me, and with reasonable driving habits, will handle 350-400 hp.
