Valair Torque Converter thoughts
Hi guys, I'm new here, and i was wondering what are your thoughts on a Valair Billet Single disk torque converter? It's rated at 500hp, which im only expecting around 400hp and 700 -900 tq from my setup when I'm done. This will be going in my 97 12 valve with a rebuilt 47re. I was thinking of doing this torque converter since its only $500, which is in my budget. Then i was going to do a valve body to increase the line pressure and help the transmission survive above stock level. Last upgrade was to install billet anchor, strut, servo and accumulator, and 4.2 ratio lever. Does this sound like a decent setup for my goals? Thanks everyone!

Well, I do not know the Valair converter, but the rest sounds decent. Maybe if you tear down the trans do add all new seals and improved clutches. (This is usually quite cheap if you do the work yourself)-
The TC in my opinion needs to fit to your torque curve and driving style/truck use.
Don't overlook all the time you will be out of lockup, it should fit your truck well then.
Robust lockup is good too, but does not really need billet, big lugs welded onto the converter do also eliminate cover warp up to ridiculous torque. (If done correctly, machining the clutch surface after welding)
