Twins Reliability?

I'm close to buying a new turbo. Was trying to stay with a single (expense) vs going to a twin setup. Daily driver trying to get 600hp. Now under the impression I'll need the twins to make a good D/D with that kind of HP. Recently read somewhere that Twins can be somewhat unreliable. I don't want to end up having to adjust/tweak, or repair my D/D even somewhat regularly. Any comments????

Im going to chime in and say from everything I have read - a 600 HP daily driver 12v is going to NEED twins. Do some searching and youll find that twins are almost as reliable as a single. I think the main reason people say they are not as reliable is because the fact that there are more parts = more possible problems, but when your bombing a truck, the farther you push the truck, the more chances you have of breaking something. Other than that hammer down.

Reliability with twins

after the refurbishing on mine, i will say i have no maintainance on them other than check the IC hoses every oil change. No problems since i have reinstalled and reworked everything. Dexter has it on the money here. the more u push a truck, the more ur gonna break.

For my 500 horse plus truck, twins are awesome. i wouldnt go any other way..

Well, I spoke to the guys at the II booth at TS Outlaw event today. He steered me toward a Phat Shaft 62/14, which can be used in a twin set-up later. But he also told me that a Super Phat Shat 62/14 would probably work as a single.

Do you tow???
I just took off a super-62, unhappy with it for ANY type of towing.
I now have a HX35-12wg on top of a B2.
There is no comparison. I have it all now, minimal smoke, egt never over 1200, and great towing.

once you get all you leaks worked out and the waste gate or gates adjusted they are trouble free. like j-fox said you have the best of everything. no smoke great towing and egts under control.

I can tell you from experience a DD 600hp 12v auto with out twins is tough.
As far as reliability of the twins......I have had them on my trucks for over 4 years now and have yet to have a problem with them. If you buy a well made set there aren’t a lot of things that can go wrong. Turbos are a pretty reliable part if they are run with-in their design parameters and the oil is kept clean.
You never mentioned if you planned on towing but if you do forget a single at that hp with a 12v. Just my $.02
