Turnbuckle 01 auto??

I did this to my wastegate and seen only about 1lb of increase. 17 - 18lbs??? Do I not have it tightened down enough or what?? I just tighted it so it would stay on..did not wrench down tight.

01 auto with EZ chip, exhaust

Thanks'

Well I would woner if it were on tight enough. Because when I did mine from Bully Dog it was TIGHT, and a big pain to get on. I noticed a pretty good increase. Sounds like it might not be tight enough.

You must not have it on right. My truck would hit 34 psi when I had a turnbuckle on it.

Well I went and snuggged it up more and still 18lbs. The "EZ" has a boost fooler right??? I can get about 18lbs at 3/4 throttle and open it up to Wide open and still 18lbs. How tight do i need to get it??? I have a pic off this site of were to put it so I am almost positve it in the right spot. Maybe I have a issue somewhere else???

It's not really a "tightness" thing. Either you have it on correctly, or you do not. You should be holding the wastegate rod in the closed position (it's normal position when at rest). You either have it in the wrong place or you have a boost leak or something.

If it's tight enough to stay on, I would say it's tight enough to get at least 30+ psi. Must have other problems.
Once you get it working correctly, you will need to secure it somehow...they tend to vibrate loose. I saftey wired mine to the W.G. hardline to keep it from rotating.

You said on your other thread that you noticed a big power/smoke difference with vs without EZ hooked up...so I would guess you have an air leak. Have you tightened all your air connections/boots. 17-18 psi is not even full boost for stock!

Ya thats how I have it. I checked for leaks but I will look closer. Could it possible be the turbo going bad or do they just quit all together???

It's not likely the turbo itself. They rarely fail. Try pinching off the hose to the wastegate actuator (unless it's a solid line). If that improves boost psi, then your actuator is leaking. Take a good look at the intercooler plumbing, especially the rubber elbows, and make sure the clamps are tight.

Checked the clamps. Found two that were not loose but not tight. Were does the boost gauge hook up?? Actuator is hard plumbed. ANyway I can check for a air leak?? What about if a lift pump or something was going bad?? When accelrating there is no difference between 3/4 & full throttle.

Does the turnbuckle allow the waste to move at all?? If not what about directly threading the rod on the left of the turnbuckle directly into the blackarm on the wastegate??

The turnbuckle clamps the wastegate completely shut. I saw 40 psi out of mine a couple of times with it clamped. I'd go and tighten all of your intercooler boot clamps and see what that does.

Now that I have my guages in I would like to do this mod also but was wondering about the benefits and drawbacks. What does it improve and hurt? My current mods are in my sig.

Ok did some testing today with a 7,000lb trailer. Tranny seems to slip with "EZ" chip. Torque converter in lock up. Pulled a pass a couple times trying to burn it up to get it replaced on warratny. No luck. Have turnbuckle and could not get Boost above 17lbs. Pulled chip with trailer to see if tranny will slip. Works like new and runs 30lbs of boost???? So with EZ in the truck will pull to 18lbs and drop to 17lbs. Without chip it will pull 30lbs????Is it possible the chip is messing something up and also sending mixed signal to the torque converter and messing with it also???
