Wow 1600? Thats crazy. I was worried when I hit 1400 this last weekend on the dyno. I'm going to need a bigger turbo i guess. I will have the same combo as you pretty much, except 115 HP injectors. Will an HTB2 be enough to keep it below 1400?

don't forget to factor in a wastegate when the temps start to climb excessively. rjohnson actually gained some hp by LOWERING the max boost (51psi down to 45psi, right?). also, the turbo and injector combination is crucial, too much fuel or not enough can get you running hot EGTs

Great thread! Not to complicate things but timing, gearing and tire size will play in some too. Unlike you guys with 3.55's my speedometer stops eventually . Here are mine with an HTB2, 12cm/62 mm wheel, 4" exhaust, 191 DV's, 370 injectors, #100 plate, 17.5 timing and pump tuned at 500' altitude.

60 mph: 4 psi, 575 EGT
70 mph: 7 psi, 675 EGT
30 psi uphill pull 875 - 900 EGT (speedo 80 mph - did I say 80 officer, I meant 55)

Now if I drop the hammer it climbs fast until I let off (maybe I should take the snow plow off now that Spring is here )

Potentially those testing thier setups could hold the brake pedal while driving down the road load the engine up to 30 psi and hold it for 4-8 seconds not hard but hard enough to maintain 30 psi steady then its just load against the engine not tire or gearing related right??

The great thing about looking at these numbers, IMO, is that Max HP doesn't matter...cause were not using it. The biggest variable will be drag, I think. Larger tires, flat beds, grill guards, different empty Wt., etc. will affect the results a little.

Paul Winey brings up a good point...I'm not sure if gear ratios will have a big effect on this set of #'s or not? I don't see a difference in my truck....boost at 60 & 70 are the same in 3rd as in OD. But still....

elevation 500 to 1000ft.
Air temp 55 to 60
Pulling a trailer with a small tractor - around 7500lbs

MPH = 60
PSI = 10
EGT = 800

Pulling a 6 to 7% grade
MPH = 55
PSI = 30+
EGT = 1050

Same elevation and air temp but without the trailer

MPH = 65
psi = 4 to 6
EGT = 550 to 650

Trying to hold 30psi is difficult without the grade and without the trailer -
MPH = speed limit + a little
PSI = 30
EGT = 1050

The truck profile is current. on edit Note this is pre MAD ECM

well it took a while to get on the highway... it's great working downtown with a six-speed...

B1-2 turbo, EDM3s, MadECM, Drag Comp on 2x5
elevation: 200'
temp: 70*
60mph: 3-4psi
70mph: 6-7psi
30psi boost (besides way too fast!): 1050-1100*

Thanks Galen

I imagine it can be tricky getting stable reading in populated or hilly areas.

I'm suprised that your numbers are so similar to my KSB-1??

it was a little bit of guessing/speculation. my 60psi gauge doesn't read under 5psi, so it was just bouncing a TINY bit at 60mph, bouncing between 6-7 at 70mph. as i mentioned, that was in 5th (direct), but 3.54 and 37" tires gives me an effective ratio of 3.0 (relative to stock 265s)
i guess the main reason it took me a while is the PRICE OF FUEL!! it finally hit me at $2.50/gal. i actually have cut down on my driving specifically because of the cost of fuel. increases previously have ticked me off, but now i don't drive unless i have to.
i think we just have too many variables to get very precise comparisons. same day/same dyno or same trailer/same hill might be better if it could be arranged...

You guys might want to add in the air temperatures too... As the weather warms and cools I've seen my pyro react it the in the same manner. It can vary about +/-100*F on the same road at the same speed (cruise set)... But the temps outside temp were 40*F are now 75*F... It makes a big difference in these numbers...
