turbo upgrades

I am getting some 370s and have been looking at HTTurbo compressor upgrade kit with the 60mm wheel and housing. Plus a 14 or 16 cm2 turbine housing. Has anyone done this to their turbo? How well does it work? Did you install it yourself? Any info would be appreciated...

I've done the HHT turbo upgrade on several trucks, easy to do and works great. Very straight forward job.
The HHT upgrade is quite a bit louder no matter what size housing is used.

What is required as far as machine work? Do you recommend the 14 or 16 with the 370s?

Very easy to do, just did mine last week. They require machine work if you want to use your existing compressor housing to fit the larger inducer wheel I believe. Make sure what turbo you have because I have a 95 and it ended up being a WH1C. I went with a 16cm2 housing. I love it right now without the 370s although I have the injectors sitting in my garage right now.

From what I have heard the machine work has to do with the center part of the turbo. The bearing support?? The upgrade comes with a new compressor housing. I just want to know what they do to the center?

The compressor wheel is slightly recessed in the end of the bearing cartridge. So when you upgrade to a larger wheel you need to machine the recess to accommodate the new wheel.

Stage 3 with a stock 12 housing gives me zero lag... I'm sure quite a bit of back pressure but still zero lag. I bet the stage 3 with a wastegated 14 that has been polished would be the best of both worlds.
