Turbo psi vs head gasket

ok i finally broke down and ordered a HB2 turbo for my 2002. what psi should i run the turbo at that i won't blow a head gasket. are should i say what psi do the head gaskets usually blow at. i am just wanting to know so i don't mess up my truck. should i buy bigger better head bolts.
just wanting everyone input for this.

42-44 would be perfect. on the lower side, just to be safe

depends on the turbo. the drive pressure is really what you need to look at.

i may be wrong here but you can be safer pushing 40psi on a bigger turbo with less restrictive turbine to keep drive pressure down, than running 40psi on a stocker because the drive pressure to make 40psi on an HX35 is much higher than a phat shaft 62 etc

someone please correct me if my info/thoughts are totally wrong!

I'd keep it at or under 45 and you should be just fine.

Adidasman23 - You don't mention turbine housing size... but either way I'll bet it comes wastegated at 40 psi. I would leave it there!
Difference in drive pressures between 40 & 45 psi can be great, and over 40 on most med sized single turbos is more expansion pressure from heat, rather than true compression boost pressure.

I would concur, my stock HX35 blew the stock headgasket at 42psi, while here I am on the marine HG at 47psi with no problems "yet" I plan on adding the 370s and pushing 50-52lbs on this B1....possibly adding a pressure gauge to the exhaust to measure drive pressure

My stock head gasket was pushed to the limit with a SP66 at 55-60PSI all the time never blew honestly i think this is a rare case.. But now its O-Ringed just to be safe...

so what should i do about head gaskets. should i keep mine until or if it blows. if it does blow do i put studs on it and/or a better head gasket. where can you get a marine gasket at.

id put studs in it now...that will help to keep a good clamp on it. if it still blows down the road then you only need a $200 modified 12v marine gasket from Performance Diesel Warehouse to get it back together rather then putting out all $600 in a hurry to get the truck back together with a new gasket AND studs

I was pushing over 60 psi drive to make 35 psi boost at the compressor. How much over I'm not sure, the gauge only went to 60 psi.

I could be wrong but, I don't think you will be able to make enough boost with just a comp to have to worry about the headgasket. Leave it set at 40, and have fun

i hope you wastegated it back because you have about 30psi of boost there that is only creating heat. 40psi on a 62mm is gonna pretty darn efficient where as 70 is way too high. unless you are referring to drive pressures being at 70psi then my statement doesnt apply.

i made the HP in my sig gated at 42psi on my 62mm B1

look at the vid in my sig i was running 70# there also way over 1600* by the time i hit the 100ft mark. it was enough to to put 30ft on some of the toughest dmaxes around and take 1st place
