HX35, Lil55, B1

HX35, Lil55, B1-no wonder the hx35 spooled like lightning

sorry for not posting more info, the B1 spools so much better than the 55 i had on the truck and its obvious why, the compressor and turbine are both smaller, the compressor housing is "narrower" on the B1 compared to that big 55.

i know some people like a visual to see the difference when making a choice

yup exactly!!

i think i'm gonna go to something a little smaller myself ...

JR's turbo has been great, especially at 500 hp ... ie with the box on 5x5

but i've only turned the comp on twice this year and once was to blow a little smoke in the super walmart parking lot for a little guy (5 year old) who asked

so to run the more efficiently the other 99.99% at approx 330 hp, injectors only, i thnk i'm gonna sell the Baby 55 for 950$ and get a HTT super 40 ...

Which B-1 is that? Sure does not look like a full B-1...which is the only one comparably with the HX-55!

i will say this...there are so many better turbos out there than a 40 series, re-worked or not...

im trying to sell my 55 as well!

my 55 was so laggy that with the comp off i made 370hp/680tq and with it on 5x5 i only made 448/820...not really any HUGE gains from the comp due to the lag of the 55 or maybe i need to get my comp reprogrammed

dusty ratcliff on here is a heck of a guy and set me up with a trade for my modifed hx35 and some cash and went ahead and let me try it first to see if i liked it first. I absolutely love it, my truck spools in the 1800rpm range and just flies.

with a smarty i could see that being around 1500-1600 and the tires will be breaking loose...when i take off in 2nd gear its builds 25psi compared to 0psi with the 55, and at the top of second it starts spinning my 35" tires

I knew that turbo looked familiar Told you you needed it a LONG time ago

RJ, that is a B1 Lag Pig....my old turbo
Chris

At least it's laggy compared to a HX35 trying to tow with a 12v

speaking of a "heck of a guy" Chris actually let me try that turbo before I bought it from him too, It was definatly a little laggy for a towing setup, otherwise I really liked it, but I just use the truck loaded way too much, I'm glad ya like it & it worked out good for ya, & chris shoot me a PM & let me know what you have goin on tomorrow or the next day, I need to get that bed up to ya (finally got the bumper too), it's lookin like rain down my way, so if your schedule would allow I'll get some help & load the bed & head up your way, just let me know how things look for you, ttyl, & once again glad the turbo worked for ya, Dusty

Both sides of the B-1 look much smaller than the HX-55/16? Guess they are.... based on GB5.9's performance report.
Curious, I would not call my HX-55/14 a "lag pig"... even on my automatic! Slower than an HX-35/12...of course, but not a pig. Probably depends on how much fuel you have?

hard to see in the pic...looking into the turbine wheel...the 55 is a straight 4" down in from the DP flange, the B1 gets smaller inside and has a smaller wheel as well.

also looking from the side, the 55 with 16cm housing is "wider" or thicker on the turbine side, maybe tonight i can take a pic of each of them from the side to better show this difference.
