Ok something changed after installing a good aftermarket exhaust manifold.
scenario: Locked out of overdrive, then the torque converter locks up in third gear as it should, I've got too much smoke. Plate change or plate grind adjustment ? It surges too like a rocket. Oh one more thing, when over drive is allowed, the torque converter locks up as usual, and it runs perfect, just a haze of smoke and builds up to 30 psi of boost. When taking off from a stop, I get a small puff of smoke that I'm ok with. Thanks, Joe

sounds like an afc adjustment, move the housing back so you dont pour in the fuel until you build boost. maybe back the plate off a little (or your foot haha) to prevent exessive surging. interesting results you post, i would think a good manifold would reduce surging.
