Lower center of gravity...if his (Dmax) tow hitch is higher than cowboykilla then once loaded the center of gravity takes over giving cowboy even more traction.
Im not sure what exactly you mean by the center of gravity takes over. Pretty sure that the lower pulling point would be pulled up and the higher point would be pulled down. Being pulled down is better... think of it like downforce on a race car. Being pulled down would put more weight on the tires.

If you have a lower pulling point, your rear end is going up when pulling, his is being pulled down, giving him more traction.

Oh boy, I dont think I'd take part in this at all Pal. I'm hearing u joints plowing and parts flying and onlookers getting needle bearings and caps in thier faces and chains and straps breaking and all kinds of hell. If you're gonna do it, do it in dirt, just cover your tail gate and rear of the cab. At least dirt will give a little and lessen your chances of breaking something. And i noticed no one has said anything about excessive cylinder temps etc?

kinda in the same situation..........except my question is how to launch on a 5spd?? if pre-revving or boosting then there goes the clutch! how to tug-a-war in a stick shift?
