Unhappy Truck stalling in gear.

I think I remember someone awhile ago telling me that this is a timing issue, but when I have it in gear and give the throttle a quick blip (ussually to show of a short burst of black to a ricer nearby lol) 80% of the time the truck stalls out as the rpms fall. It doesn't do it in neutral or park, but when it gear and holding the breaks it lunges a little and then just dies. I can't imagine it can be low idle, it idles pretty high, I have yet to install a tach but it sounds alot higher than other trucks I've heard. Thanks,

Where is your idle in drive? Sounds too low to me- I'd say set it to at least 650 rpm in D.
The other possibility is that your governor is messed up (not a political statement )

Sounds like low idle speed to me. I have to adjust mine every once in a while.

BTW, how is the marine cam? I heard they suck in a highway application.

I don't know why anyone would say they suck. There's more lag, that's about the only thing I noticed, but if you learn to adjust for it its not a big deal at all. If I take off quick I give it more fuel to boost faster and it just leaves a little puff of smoke and goes like normal. Buuuuut here lately I did find a cut on the bottom of one of my intercooler boots,,,those have been replaced, but I haven't driven the truck yet since then, so we'll see, maybe that was the cause of the lag? it moved the power band a little bit. I've ridden in other trucks that have near the same mods of mine minus the cam (both were 2nd gens though) and they seem to pull harder the higher the rpms go, but with mine it pulls almost evenly throughout the rpm band. I really don't know though, I'm going of seat of the pants, I added the cam, pistons, 370's, and some others all at the same time. used to have 275's, stock35, and no plate(bad I know, now it has one again, that was a PO hack that I fixed) and I had a mishap,,,roasting every piston I had, so that brought on a year long engine rebuild. I'm planning my next stages though for this winter ( I don't ussually drive it in the winter b/c of the lockers) and I've been considering swaping back or to a piers/f1 cam not sure yet. Just to see if there's a difference, i've heard theres not much. But no trouble driving it anywhere,,,dunno where that came from.

And the idle, I really doubt it's that,,,when I go from park to drive the truck lurches and the rpms drop and it will take off just idling if I let it, make it to about 10 mph. I ussually put it in N at long lights just because I don't like the tranny loaded up like that for long periods of time. need to get a tach to be sure, which is on the list, so we'll see I guess. what should the idle be? 6-7-800?
