Transmission Question

I was looking through my service manual, and I noticed a thing in the trans called a Variable Force Sol. What is this thing for? Also, by bypassing the relay for the trans in the PDC would this eliminate limp mode starts from high pressure?<br>Thanks<br>Chuck

AFAIK the variable force solenoid belongs to the governor pressure circuit. <br><br>About bypassing the relay: My opinion is that this will not give you an advantage- the pressures are measured by the PCM and if you put them out of the specs the PCM accepts it will act up- if you blindfold the PCM about what's going on it will react nastily. <br>Also the pressure signal going to the PCM does not go across the relay, the relay is &quot;arming&quot; the lockup solenoid and the OD solenoid. You do bypass the relay to allow a lockup switch to function. Your lockup solenoid is armed permanently, and you can manually ground it to activate lockup in any situation where the PCM wouldn't let you do it otherwise. <br><br>HTH<br><br>AlpineRAM

govener pressure solenoid and feedback sensor work in conjunction to control govenor pressure via the pcm. Its speed is messures in htz and the solenoid has a open time and closed time the more open time the pcm gives it the more govenor pressure the trans gets then the feedback sensor reads this pressure and informs the pcm in volts how much acutal gov pressure there is please be cafeul making mods in this area can be adventagious to you.
