TransGo Problems??

Thinking about putting a shift kit in over the Christmas break. Seems I've heard some people have had problems with them. Anybody know what kind of problems?

Thanks

Re:TransGo Problems??

I have had a Trans-go in mine with sythetic fluid for about 1 1/2 years with a fair amount of towing and no problems. I had mine installed by my transmission guy who says he has done alot of them and I think he did it right. I think alot of people tend to look at a shift kit as a kind of band aid for the valve body in these transmissions. Mine has worked well so far.

Re:TransGo Problems??

I installed mine a few weeks ago now. Love it. No problems. it is one of the harder ones to install though. That Trannsgo kit does the same thing that the aftermarket valve body does by the way it looks to me. so $40 to $400, which sounds better. I also just intalled a lower stall converter last night. I love it also. Truck drive like it should new. Can't figure out way these truck don't have a lower stall converter in them from the factor. Stall speed at 2000 when peak tork is a 1600. Just don't make sence to me.

Re:TransGo Problems??

I put a Mojave green converter in it. I whole lot cheaper than bg or dtt, but not as good. I was worried about it when ordered it but not pulling any heavy loads anyways so hoped it would work allrigth. After installing it, I believe it will. I sure like the truck better now. It stall about at about 1650 brake torking it were before it was over 2000rpms. I don't have to jump on the trottle hard to make the truck move now. It was $400 without shipping and core. CR-655 SLS is the part number
The transgo kit i got from Makco Distributing for $40 without shipping. The Kit didn't come with much instructions. I guess there is a kit that come with a movie but cost alot more. This company is a trannsmission parts suppler. Shift kit a500/a518 diesel only is the kit i bought. 54979 is the item code.

Re:TransGo Problems??

That's a good price for the kit. Some guy is hawking them on Ebay for $49.95. Almost bought one. Thanks.

Did you happen to get a max HP rating on the converter?
