I have a 47RH trans Suncoast triple lock converter, clutchs with trantec/transgo valve body upgrade, i also have a converter lockup on switch installed. iI pulled last night at one of the local fairs in the area, in low range with the converter locked the trans would not shift up to 3rd gear what can i do to get it to shift into third?

Mine will?? It wont shift into 4th, but it will shift into 3rd locked. Hmm? Dont guess i can help you there?

It's dangerous shifting while locked during a pull, especially with a tight torque converter. I bet the input wouldn't have liked that shift it wouldhave gone to 3rd. Anyway, it should shift up to third, the only thing I can think of is maybe with it locked in 2nd you aren't revving enough to cause it to shift. Did you happen to glance at the tach?

 

ya the tach was about 2500 RPM, i forgot to mention im not worried about the input shaft all are case hardend. i guess it could just not have had the tires goin fast enough to shift into third.

Get you a 3k GSK and it wont need to shift. Or a 4k if you really want to wind her up.
