Tranny Problems again

i have been haveing this tranny problem for about 3 months. I thought it would slove the problem when I rebuilt the tranny. Well the problem is that my trucks sometime when its a cold start up and i put it into drive it will take off in Overdrive and then die. if i put it into 1st it will not do it. and if i shut the truck off then it will be fine. it seems if i reset the computer a.k.a. turn the truck off its fine. has anyone ever had this problem.

Yep had the same problem with mine....it'd want to start out in 3rd or overdrive ( couldn't tell which ) but I'd pull it down into first and it take off no problem. Never really dug into the problem so I can't help much on how to fix it though......sorry!

I also had the problem if the truck had been sitting for a few days....I'd put it in reverse or drive and the tranny wouldn't grab....it'd just sit there for about 30 seconds to a minute and then it'd finally go.

You put new electronics in when you rebuilt the tranny? Sounds like your Governor Pressure Solenoid is bad

Nick, the reason it wouldn't go anywhere is because the fluid drained outta the converter and needed to get pumped back up before it would move. I let my tranny idle in neutral for about 30 secs in the morning to let it get pumped up and any other time of the day while I'm putting my seatbelt on and playing with the AC etc.

Rob, it sounds like a bad pressure solenoid or maybe the ECM trying to put the tranny into limp mode because of the higher pressures. You might need to add a voltage regulator or resistor in line to help with that.

I got mine from DTT when I got the valve body put in a couple of years ago. Don't quite remember which wire it taps into on the PCM but what it does is set the voltage at a certain point and that fools the computer into thinking the pressures are lower than they actually are.

Yup. Mine has done it twice since I got the tranny installed. It was only after WOT runs. I never did get around to playing with the voltage regulator cause the truck stopped doing it. Man I hate electronics.

I thought that's what that might have been.....so I did the same thing in neutral, seemed to work!
