Towing Power

My farrier wants a little more power for towing. He has an 02 6spd w/gauges and 4" exhaust, stock everything else. I told him that an EZ would be perfect for his needs but then I found a Quadzilla 70hp box brand new for $325. Should he go with the proven EZ or are the Quadzilla boxes ok?

Thanks

I don't know anything about the Quadzilla boxes, but I am very happy with my EZ for towing.

Since he has the Cummins HO (ETH), I would suggest the Diesel Dynamics True Torque Power Module (TTPM) in lieu of the Edge EZ. The TTPM is an EZ with Diesel Dynamics specific programming and is not as aggressive with timing advance as the EZ - a benefit to the HO engine with its higher compression ratio. My personal opinion (despite the fact that I bought the EZ soon after I took delivery of my truck) is that the EZ is a little aggressive regarding timing for heavy towing with the HO.

Agreed. I don't tow so I don't worry about the excess timing. But when I DID lay into a load with the HO, the engine acted like the timing advance (edit: of the EZ)was excessive, giving a thumping sound when it had to work hard....

An Edge EZ, Banks diesel tuner or other like box should do well for towing provided he has the extra air flow such as a Scotty-II and Turbo Air Guide (TAG). Guages should also be on the list if he doesn't have them now.

Most would say that injectors will wake up the ETH better than a box. But then it's not as simple to install. Price can be abot the same or on up the ladder.

Some Mach 1's or 1.5's would be my call. From what Scotty says...the ScottyII won't do much for you at that power level. Neet stuff, but...
