Torque Converter temp Gauge? Where to mount?
Ok, I need to install another gauge to monitor my TC temp, anyone have info or know about this? I would greatly appreciate it, I'm about to spend a lot for a great TC and want to keep it in check. Thanks!
I doubt it.
Hot line to the cooler will get you the most accurate temps.
You can either tap into the existing line, or get the line with the port.
Most online sources have the line or know where to get it.
That's where mine is tapped in, and I had it pegged at 280+ this past weekend.
Even had the tranny temp idiot light come on.
Did it ever stink once I came to a stop.

Ok, if I were to mount another temp gauge into that line, what are some safe levels I should be watching. My other one is in the pan and have heard not any hotter than about 200. So far I've been able to keep to that, but one of my tranny guys said I may have burned the trans oil from the TC and it woudn't really show it in the pan temp immidiately. So that's why some of my gaskets and other tranny parts aren't any good anymore.

Pan temp will be a more steady reading, hot line will go up and down more.
Mine gets up to 200 in stop and go traffic, but once I get up to 35mph or more and get some airflow over the cooler and TC into lockup, it drops right back down to the normal 160 or so.
Temps I reached last weekend definatly cooked the fluid, hopefully it wasn't hot long enough to damage any seals.
Just a guess, but I'd say pan temp of 200 would be pushing 230-240 in the hot line.
