Transmission Temp Gauge - Pics? Mount it where?

Ok, there is the metal line coming from the transmission with the little sensor thingy in it. Is that the one with the sensor that is for shutting off overdrive at 270ish? Or is the one IN the trans just above that (just above the edge of the pan)?? Does anyone have a pic of the install for the "hot line install" since I bought a mechanical temp sensor and the probe is WAY to long for the port in the metal line that comes from the driver side of the trans with the sensor thingy in it.

Please, I'd REALLY like to get it installed today and be on the road tomorrow, be specific and help me figure out how and where I'm installing this. A pic would make you my deity for the day!!!

The "sensor thingy" in the line is the OD over temp sensor.

Thanks Wanna,

So to be sure, this is the sensor thingy which people report removing and replacing with the temp gauge probe, with little or no ill effects? Correct?

Yes. You are now the safety device. The PCM always thinks the trans is nice and cool.

As for mounting, some people put it down on the hump of the floor pan above the transmission, at the bottom of the dash, on top of the dash or a pillar pod.

I'm thinking about mounting mine on the steering column using a 94 dodge gage pod cluster by autometer. from the pictures I've seen, my 92 plastic is the same as the 94 plastic.

No need to even look at again until spring - never moves after it gets cold outside.
