toolbox and stacks?

so i want stacks on my truck now but i have a problem. with the longbox on my truck i have both a toolbox and a tonneau cover. i have been pondering the idea of maybe fabricating my toolbox so that i can have the stacks run through it. has anyone heard of or seen this done? any help woulb be wonderful. kinda nervous to venture into this

I dont know if I would go to the trouble of trying to get the stacks to run thru it, I think that it would be rather straight forward and easy to simply notch the corners of the box where the stacks would sit. Of coarse you would need to welded the ends of the box that was cut but nothing major.

i have stacks and a tool box...i rarely need all 8' of the bed so I just pushed my toolbox back. if you notch the toolbox for the stacks you still wont be able to open the lid all the way because it will hit the stacks.

here is mine with tool box and stacks

I think Buckshotmckee modded his tool box around his stacks. Might check out his pics.

I had this same delima. Eventually I just moved my box back. Notching it wasn't going to make that much of a difference for me because I have the full lid box. If you have a box the opend from either end then I would be worth it to go to the trouble of notching it.

If you have access to the right machines/tools and a good welder, anythings possible. My box is not a toolbox but it could have easily been fabricated to be one. Mine's more for Y-pipe protection and bling factor.

I had to move both the tool box and the stacks back more then I wanted because the thickness of the headache rack material. I bolted a piece of angle down to the bed to keep lumber and such from hitting the T pipe. I'd like to have all 8' of the box for work but I can deal with it for the stacks.

Another way

I am making a swing box that mounts at the back by my tailgate so that I can easy get to it and the stack are out of the equation then. It is like an underbody toolbox (18" high x 20" deep x 48" wide) that the door drops down like a tray. I thought it would be easier to deal with and get into if it was back by the tailgate. Just a thought for ya though, will have to get pictures when finished.
