Tire Vulcanizing...HELP!
Tire Vulcanizing...HELP!
So I blew a hole in a couple tire sidewalls on my Jeep (I know it's not a 4 wheeler forum but you guys have been great so far
) and they are really expensive tires to replace. Does anyone know a place that does vucanizing in the ca, nv, or, areas? Thanks a lot.

Re:Tire Vulcanizing...HELP!
Holes in the SIDEWALL???? Not very common. How big are the holes. I would be VERY careful about vulcanizing in any of the sidewall area. There is a lot of flexing there and that could cause the patch to come off unless done perfectly. If the holes are any bigger then say, .125" in any area other then the tread area I would be tempted to throw the tires away unless they are used for ememrgency spares or at a very low speed. Certainly would not recommend any high speed driving with a damaged sidewall.
Re:Tire Vulcanizing...HELP!
i punched 2 holes in my 44"tsl [400 bucks each]that only had three runs on them. both were big enough to put your thumb in them. i filled them with plugs and drove them out. i took the tire to on of the bigger truck tire places, that said they could do a hot plate patch. but it was to far up the sidwall for them to do. so they sent it to the recapper in waco texas. i got it back in two days, they booted the inside and vulcanzied the out side. you have to really look to notice it. i have had them out 3 times since and so far 100%. and i usally run around 8psi in my rock crawling rig. they charged me 58 bucks including tax. i thought it was the deal of the century. mike

They are for very low speed. I had a place do it to a tire about five years ago and they were great. I wish I was around Waco all of a sudden... :-[ 39" boggers aren't cheap and these still have a good 90% tread! One tire is all plugged up now with about 6 plugs and holding (for now) but the other tire has a hole about 3" long in it! I need to get them both done.
