I agree I doubt you will see much difference going from a 265 to a 285. The big difference in mileage people talk about is when you step up to a 305 or even a 315, then you will most likely drop a couple mpg.

Hohn is exactly right.
I know several people who have bought overdrive gear splitters in an effort to increase mphs, it doesn't work.
Aerodynamic drag that increases with speed seems to be the biggest factor.

I upped from 245's to 295's and with a 4:10 gear set my milage has climbed approx 2.5 MPG city - dn't know what highway is yet as I have to travel first! LOL
