Timing?

What should I advance the timing to? I was thinking aroound 15-16. My truck is in my signiature. On a side note, where I can I get a cheap set of gauges? I was wondering because yesterday on my thermostat, the temperature was about to exceed the safety limit. Does this correspond to to EGTs or is it just the water temp.? Thanks

If you are not going to run boost over 35psi I would go up to 17-19*. I started out at 17 and I'm at 18.5 now running 45psi. The timing really makes it more responsive not too mention better mpg.

Mine is at 16*. Really helped a lot with my EGT's, and Mileage too. The water temperature doesent have anything to do with your EGT's. It CAN if you pull a big long hill and you EGT's are real high maybe, but my water temp was always fine even when my EGT's were getting hot.
