time to up grade need suggestions!

I've got the "need more power" disease!! I just ordered my set of gauges last week so they should be on next weekend! So what would you guys suggest as a worthy upgrade.
1.Auto tranny upgrade-if so what do i need????
2. Bigger Injectors- i have stacks so smoke doesn't bother me!
3. Bigger turbo or turbo housing?
4. Other_______________________________

Tell me what you guys think and check out my sig line as this is all that is done to my truck! Thanks in advance.
Callum

Well, the auto tranny upgrade is going to be one of those "pay me now or pay me later" kind of deals. More power will blow up the stocker. I vote for injectors, you don't need a turbo yet - but you will if you get the right injectors.

I put the Edge Comp on first, then my injectors. I feel the Comp made a bigger difference than the injectors, more "seat of the pants" feel. BUT, I have a standard 6 speed with a strong clutch.

You will probably want to upgrade the tranny first, especially with 38" tires. That way, when you do add injectors, box, turbo, etc etc it will handle it. Can't say which tranny company to go with being that I have no experience with that.

Good luck, Pat

check out DTT at www.dieseltrans.com They have been in Fourwheeler mag. a little bit ago in an article about getting power to the ground. they installed a valve body, TC, and some other things. i plan on getting a valve body from them before a box and injectors, but after my lift!

tough call, injectors or trans, any idea how big you want to go? (this is the first question in my mind) your trans will depend on how far you mod the truck but you'll probably want to do torque converter, valve body and computer at a minimum, if you do that first you may get some good life out of it yet. You'll find (at least I have) it just seems to take a little while for folks to get to know you on most boards. my .02

I agree....... above all do this first then you wont have to worry about the trany

then drop about $500 buck and get the F.A.S.S. and youll never have to worry about the lift pump .

then plug the waste gate off

get a big ol box

DD2 injectors

And HANG ON

To me, the call is much easier if i were Callum's position.

TRANS TRANS TRANS.

The reason the trans is so key is that you have those monster 38s at each corner.

Not only do you have to look closely at the driveline (axles, u-joints, gears, etc), you have to consider how much more work the tranny is having to do with those big meats.

Your sig doesn't mention if you have re-geared, but whether you have the 4.10 OR the 3.54, your gears are a little tall for that big a tire.

The strain on your stock TC is multiplied greatly. You need a strong tranny to handle that demanding application. DTT is highly regarded. You'll want to stick with an 89 converter or looser because you need the torque multiplication to get that rig moving on those meats. Forget a 91 or 93 converter.

In YOUR case, all that injector or a box will do is accelerate how soon you need your tranny done and make it more expensive when the time comes.

Be smart and do the trans. The power can come later.

Agree! Tranny first. It may not be adding HP but it sure does feel like it...make it a whole new truck to drive. Than, when you do add horses, you can do so with no other concerns.
DTT is only experience I've had...and it's been all positive.

"Which way is better to go?"

This article was deciding factor for me. Never regretted the decision. I've added several different power combos since then (18 months) and my tranny just takes them all in stride with no problems!
