temp apps reset using smarty

OK i have been following the APPS tread. and got a thought ? if the apps is bad in an area on the contacts, which on my truck 1800-2000 rpm cruise no extra load. if I down tuned the smarty, it should change the bad spot right ? so i down tune to #5 from #9 and now its gone from that spot . and now I can drive the truck with no surge. until I get a william switch installed. it seems the smarty stacks the apps, and down tuning it to #5 moved the spot .

Am I onto something? or just on something?

I have been driving the truck it seemed to help as long as I dont need more fuel ....go up a slight hill

I think that is a good observation. I've noticed that the pedal position for a given speed seems different on the various programs. I'm running #1 now and it is very sensitive right off idle where on #3 or #5 is is much softer. Probably because of the greater timing on #1. I would guess that it is possible to have a bad spot on the APPS pot. After reading the full story on the developemnet of the aftermarket Apps it appears that the whole thing is a low budget item sold by DC for a premium price over the counter.
