TC lock-up

I am posting for a friend. He has a 97 auto and wants to be able to run a toggle switch to his TCM and be able to lock up his Torque Converter. I guess he heard you can to that on earlier autos but dosent know how to on his. I know nothing about transmissions, i am just asking for him. Any help would be great. thanks in advance.

the tranny is a 47re and uses 12 volts to power the lock-up selinoid, the 47rh is hydraulically controled but requires the use of a ground in the circuit

also the SEARCH function works wonders.....

Better clarify that before someone gets the wrong idea......a locked TC will COOL the trans, not heat it up. Unless it's slipping of course. Fluid shear in the TC is the #1 heat builder in an auto, get rid of the shear and get rid of the heat.

That doesn't have anything to do with the TC itself, it's the VB, really.

Keep in mind that a lockup switch on a stock trans/TC is NOT a good idea.

It's often called a "MYSTERY SWITCH". Try searching for that!

Bet you find a ton of stuff.
