Tapped Comp for towing?

Thinking of ditching the v5 and putting in a comp, tapping the pump wire, etc. Considering my other mods, will this setup be OK for towing, seeing as how you can adjust it? Figure that way I can unhook the trailer and really play. Would egt's and smoke be issues with the stock turbo?

yes, with the adjustability of the comp towing will be a breeze. Smoke will be there with the stock turbo, but not uncontrolable. So switch and dont look back!

Do you like what your va does for ya? If so you could pick up a blue chip apb for $500 new- good for 85 hp and dial adjustment and stack it with the va. Either way I'm thinking its going to be *hot* with a stock turbo + 90 hp injectors + a fueling box. What are your egts like now??

I ran 90rwhp injector and a comp box on a stock turbo. I did that for three years. I towed a 10k trailer all over the place. Big hills, yes she got hot. You should be ok. Just watch your pyro. I loved the intial kick that the comp/drag box gives you when you go from idle to full power. The power comes on hard with the drag box. If you want a real hard running truck run the comp with the catcher. Just to smokey for me. You will have smoke, more than your current configuration. The truck will respond/spool-up faster with the comp box. I ran mine mostly on 4X4 setting. It passed cars like I didn't have a trailer hanging on my butt.

I like the va, I just want more power, and the adjustability sounds good. I haven't heard of the blue chip apb, I'll have to look it up. My egt's are fine right now, pulling a 10,000 lb load it cruises at about 650, 950 at normal accelleration, can go up to 1200 if I"m going up an on ramp or something.

Daggone power bug. I wish it hadn't bit me.

Thanks for the link GB. Smoke is fine, I don't want to roll a steady stream all the time, but I'd like to be able to turn it up and really lay down some soot if I want to. Right now my main source of entertainment is staring in the passenger side mirror and watching the lingering cloud of preboost smoke. It could be improved upon considerably.

i ran 100hp sticks and a comp on an HX-35 for awhile...towed great, power was great, EGT's controllable with a lighter foot or turning the comp down a few settings. i just wanted more...so i moved up.
