Surging when cold with Mach 3's.

Anyone else experience surging and sometimes it will actually stall when I put it in gear.I hear alot of good about Mach 4's Maybe Don M. can upgrade me to 4's.One thing I also noticed with the 3's that motor sure is alot louder. You when motor is cold its usually louder,Now seems to just stay that loud even when warm.Maybe Don M. you might have some suggestions or anyone else.......Thanks Mark By the way I have DTT auto and just shy of 500 hp to the wheels if that helps....

Has this happened since the install of the 3's? Does it do it all the time? have you ever had them pop tested? How much air do you have to go w/ the high fueling of the 3's? Let us know what else you have (fill in signature).

Part of this is somewhat normal for a bigger injector-- but not completely.

What happens is that the high flow of the injector cause a shorter, more intense combustion event--> Higher peak pressure and thus, more noise.

However, stalling when you put it in gear should not happen just with an injector swap. I'd be looking at other causes for the condition.

Thanks guys for the replies.I'm running B1-2 with my setup.I heard the 4's are actually a quieter injector than the 3's.I also get slower starts when warm, but I figure that might have something to do with my 28 psi at idle.I run carter pusher with stock lift and Ray's banjo's.At wot I'd be lucky to get it down to 15 psi.Hohn how do you like the 4's.I've changed vp once with Pier's .028 spec pump already about year and a half ago.Sure hope it's not going again didn't throw no codes at all.I guess the truck did start surging after the inj. install but nowhere near as bad as now and not stalling. Thanks Mark.......

Maybe higher pop off pressures are causing the stall in combination with a tight converter.
Anything is possible.

Since installing Mach 4's I get the loping at idle(when cold) as well but no stalling. Warmed up the they are quiter and my idle dropped a bit acceleration seems smoother as well.

Thanks for the replies guys.It sure seems to me that the mach 4's are a much better inj. than the 3's. I've even read guy's getting better milage than the 3's.Maybe Don M can do something with my 3's for a set of 4's.Thanks Mark......

Stalling when put into gear.

I used to have a similar problem.

See this thread and my reply...

Might be worth a try.

Thanks Augusta I'll give it a try.I was the same way, when I first got my truck I figured it was idling to high so I backed off screw but it never took the idle down.I don't think I ever adjusted the screw back so maybe I'll play a little.I was also told the fast idle tsb might cure it but I just hate going to dealer.Thanks.......
