shift kit

They are a better kit I hear you don't have to change any wiring just a straight parts swap. I have not heard anything to positive about Trans go kits

SMR in canada has the BEST kit that I have ever seen, I have done many of these kits, no electronics mods either. I have installed the transgo kit, it works pretty well, and cost is about 75 bucks. Most of these kits are around the 100. dollar mark. The SMR kit is about 150.

2500t.d. the most important thing that they do is increase line pres. which helps keep your T.C. alive. They also "firm" up shifts etc. etc...

That's not entirely true, the valve body "shift kit" as most people call it does many things, one is increase the line pressure, but they also:

improve oiling to critical parts of the tranny
stop converter oil drain back
decrease overlap when shifting
change shift points to better optomize engine power
increase oil flow through the oil cooler
allow you to hold gears in some situations
lock up the torque converter in third(some trucks will some won't when stock)

Talking Shift Kits

Superior Transmission and SMR Motor sports both have web sites you can check out there tech lines are listed on the sites. I have not had time to contact them. I am getting ready for a long needed holiday. When I get back i will get into shift kit mode.
Hope this bit helps the SMR kit looks real nice.

Mcmopar,

I see that they make converters as well, I wonder if those are good to??? as I am trying to make a converter choice at the same time.

I cannot comment on their converters, other that they make good ones for the old 440's that I play with.
