Stacks question?
The last set I put on, we cut through most of the crossmember.
Its hard to put the saddle clamps in though unless you can straddle it.. Otherwise you end up drilling a hole that you can only reach if you cut a large one through the bottom of the crossmember to tighten the nut.
My stacks are behind the crossmember, but when I get my new box put in I will be cutting the crossmember to place them closer to the cab.

i put mine behind the crossmember towards the bed, because im going to put a headache rack, and didnt want them too close to the rack due to the type that i want. being that i did it myself, i used some pipe that is cheaper quality, and i guess i got probably 2 or 3 more years left on it, and ill relace it with some square tubing for the piece that lays in the bed, like most of the logging trucks do back home..........
