Question Stacks-how hot do they get?

I have a headache rack with Line-X sprayed on it, and 2-4" lights(red, clear) on each side. The lights are held in by rubber gromets. If I put 5" stacks on, will the exh. system carry enough heat to melt anything?

Or will the 5" pipe displace the heat well enough to keep everything from melting? That is assuming I put 4" form turbo to stack, then swage up to 5".

thanks
Phillip

Mine get pretty warm to the touch but not really hot enough to melt stuff. They don't even get hot enough to turn the chrome color.

Once the exhaust gets that far back, I doubt you'd see any more than 250 degrees pulling hard at low speed. Anything that would be safe under the hood will be safe near your stacks.

I dont know, my stack sure melted the bedliner real good with about 1" clearance all around it... I would have to say that at full tilt you easily have 600°F to 700°F back there.....

That could be since you're only running one stack and a lot more HP than PK and I am from looking at the sigs. I split mine off into two four inch pipes in the bed (check my album). While I wouldn't want to hold my hand on it after stopping, the liner and other stuff hasn't melted yet. Never took the temp on it though.

I have 4" back to 5" stacks. Took a temp reading after normal drivin with one of those laser temp guns and it was around 100-125 F. Never took a reading after a full blown run though.

Mine sure get hot enough to melt stuff . I melted 2 antifreeze jugs on the bottom part of one of my stacks . Luckily its low enough that you cant see it. However mine have never gotten hot enought to melt my bed liner. Ide say that as long as your stacks arent touching the headache rack or the rubber grommets youll be fine.
