Re:Speakers

Just watch the depth before you apes*** and put something in with a hunongous magnet hangin off of it. There isn't much room in the door cavities.

Re:Speakers

That's what I did with my setup. Minus the plywood (I'm doing that when I install the new Alpine ;D). The components are real nice. I mounted the tweeters in the top of the doors. If I had to do it over again, I'd mount them in the top of the pillar.

Re:Speakers

I put a set of Infinity Kappa 6x9 2 ways up front. These have large magnets. They came with faces for surface mount. I removed the wire screen flipped it over and used that as a spacer. The factory infinity setup was removed. I also unhooked the factory tweets.

For the rear I used Infinity reference 6.5 seperates. The tweets are mounted high on the door and are -3db.

All speakers are driven by a 4x50 amp. It sounds good no matter where you sit.

The factory deck is still used, for now.

Re:Speakers

Stakeman why would you mount tweeters in the rear? Im not sure on this the whole point is to have the highs singing up front. Pillar mounted tweets are the preference and also dash mounted the reflect off the glass. The point of a tweeter is to have the opposite side of the truck point at your ear so the right side of the truck will point the tweeter at the drivers right ear and vise versa for the passenger. I have always prefered a component set for tweaking the sound to my likeing the 6x9's you get are already capped at certin frequencies so its not easily tuned to sound as good as a set of components. I highly recommend the JL audio line for speakers along with the Focal line if you have the dough. I run the focals and they are state of the art and work amazingly. I have yet to see a set distort.
