alright i couldnt resist..i had more trouble with the afc screw behind the break off screw than the break off screw ...i slid the housing fully forward too and well as the plate...took me 3 hours....i test drove and i cant notice a difference...and gave her full throttle from a stop sign and then it felt like it had more pep especially past 2000 rpm..hmm..time to screw around with one of the plates i got at the junk yard

Bout time! Does it smoke any mashing it from a stop? Are EGT's higher, and is boost higher? Dod you get the AFC screw cranked all the way forward? You wont notice much till the converter locks. What you really need is a 3k GSK. That will really help make use of the stock auto, and you will love the driveability of it then!

You don't get the most power gain by sliding the plate full forward, move it back about 1/16"
After moving the plate make sure to check the gov arm adjustment
instructions here> http://www.piersdiesel.com/TechLeverAdj.htm
I worked on a truck last year with melted pistons, only mod was the owner sliding the plate full forward, no gauges. What happened after sliding the plate was the arm missed the plate and dove under it, truck pulled like no tommorow till it melted down.

I also have the 160 pump, and though i need it timed, and it starts popping and white smoking at about 2900rpm's, i can put it to about 3200rpm's, and it pulls strong to 3k. I dont know how high you could rev with the 4k. Im hoping advancing the timing will stop mine from popping and white smoking at high rpm's, and lower EGT's some.

I keep talking about getting a 3gsk, but I just havent done it yet. I dont know why I am waiting. Whats the best place to get it? I have some money I can spend now. That sucks yours pops and stuff on that RPM. Hopefully mine wont do that?

Massey: Piers still has them for $100!! Buy it! I think the only reason mine does it is because of timing. Im hoping after i advance it, it wont do it anymore.

either I got lucky and someone else installed a GSK and loosened it up too much before I got the truck, or I got some mystery stock springs, but I gave my supposed stockers 2 clicks tighter, and can pull to 2900 loaded before cut, and 3300 no load firewalled. No low rpm stumbles or misses, no flat spots, just had to lower the idle a little. Weird huh? I won't ask no questions though.

Wow, I wish that was the case for my truck. I know mine wasnt tampered with because I had one he!! of a time getting the break off screw out. It is very very soft, which i guess hence the name break off screw. It must be some good stuff too, or bluepoint tools arent good? because as I drove my torx down into it, a fair depth, it broke off inside the screw! I was screwed I ended up breakin the head off and puttin the housing off, then putting a vise grip and twisting it out. I tried everything before the torx, like the impact screwdriver, which just mushed the head and twisted out I was sweatin thinkin I was going to have to drill it out once i broke it off the vise grip. All paid off in the end. I am going to order the 3000gsk, so now im sweating about that install.
