SMR Shift kit installed.
This weekend a fellow NC Chapter member (McMopar) installed the shift kit, Thanks Phil! He did a great job, knows his stuff when it comes to the Mopar trannys.
The kit has three different options with regard to performance. Street, Heavy Duty and Competition. I went with the Heavy Duty set up after talking with Phil. He made a good arguement for not going full tilt competition shift.
The truck shifts quick and firm. Lock up pressure is much improved over stock. No more mushy feeling!
To prevent setting a code with higher line pressure the kit uses a different valve instead of a resistor. No limp mode.
Shift points are right on time.

This kit includes an additional governor pressure control valve which will allow operating pressure to be raised for heavy duty use without setting an error code in the computer. Increased lubricating pressure of the planetaries is also extremely important when operating these transmissions in heavy duty applications.

I see you have 2 kits listed did you have to buy both kits? or is that the kit options you can buy. Was the kit hard to put in and was there any tuning after installed. I want to put one in my dads 98 12v.
You just buy the one that you want, one is pre 1998.5 and the other is for post 1998.5. When I did my kit, it needed some "tuning" I used the race settings, when I put it in Mikes truck I used a combination of Heavy Duty and Race and hit a perfect "sweet" spot for his truck.
Jack, I didn't even know they sold two kits till I read McMopar post again. I ordered the HD kit. There was no tuning after install in my case, but I had a good installer.

hey guys phil has also helped me as well with guages . i was having problems and help fixed them. mike is rite phil does know his stuff and he is honest and good. he will do a shift kit in my truck next as well as all my work . he is also a great guy as well and has a good sense of humour .
