Smarty trial....im getting one!
I'm also interested in the different Smarty settings as far as
timing on the HO engine. I know the #9 is the full on Catcher
but what are the #5 mild Catcher and #7 soft catcher programs
as to timeing advance. I want the full fueling but the setting
for less agressive timeing advance for my HO engine. Would that
be the "soft" Catcher or the "mild" catcher setting ?

All three Smarty Settings... Soft.... Medium....Full... get you to the same place... as per the literature that comes with the Smarty. It's just a question of how quickly they kick in.
No choice needed or wanted, as I see it, as to different timing vs different fueling. With you 275's and an HO engine, #7 is really sweet, without being overly agressive!

Correct me if I’m wrong...but with a Comp, #8, #6, #4. These settings give the Full Catcher Fueling without the timing advance. SO.....5 settings on the comp.....5 sub settings.......9 (actually 6 usable settings on the Smarty)......equals 225 possible tune combinations........WOW!
ALSO...thanks to Aggiejustin for this info....and RJohnson touched on this a bit.....
Once enabled, idle speed will slowly ramp up from 800 rpm to 1200 rpm when all of the following conditions are met:
1. Intake Manifold Temperature less than 0°C (32°F) and,
2. Coolant Temp is less than 60°C (140°F) and,
3. The Transmission is in Neutral or Park and,
4. The Service Brake pedal is not depressed and,
5. Throttle = 0% and,
6. Vehicle Speed = 0 mph
Additionally, if Intake Manifold Temperature (IMT) is less than -9°C (15°F), and all of the parameters above are met, three of the cylinders will be shut off upon reaching 1200 rpm, creating a slight change in engine sound which is normal. This allows the engine to create increased heat in the cooling system, allowing more rapid engine warm up and cab heating.
Both features will automatically disable when one of the following occurs:
1. The Automatic Transmission is placed in gear (forward or reverse) or,
2. The Service Brake pedal is depressed or,
3. Throttle position is greater than 0% or,
4. Vehicle Speed is greater than 0 mph or,
5. Coolant Temperature is greater than 79°C (175°F).
Engine speed will return to normal operation at 800 rpm. If the engine continues to idle and coolant temperature is at or below 60°C (140°'F), the feature will reenable. In order to operate properly, the Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS) must stay at idle.
NOTE: ANY TYPE OF AFTERMARKET IDLE SPEED KICKER THAT ACTIVATES THE APPS WILL DISABLE THIS FEATURE.
Use of the 110V block heater will not allow the feature to function after an overnight soak. If the vehicle is left idling, without use of the block heater, 1200 rpm operation will begin when the intake temperature drops below O°C (32°F) and coolant is less than 60°C (140°F).

I exhibited impressive restraint (for me). I waited more than 24 hours from the time I tried one (Sunday at 10:00 am) until the time I placed my order (Monday at 6:30 pm). I am pretty proud of myself.

Hmmmm, I parked in a open sided parking garage. Never kicked on at all. the truck started up fine with no issues, so I guess it prolly wasn't needed. I work nights so I in the morning its nice and chilled. Might park outside to see if it kicks on.
Marco is it possible a couple Smarty's could not have high idle enabled? Or being how all of them have all the programs, I dont see that happening.
Be aware.... in some cases it seemed to take up to 60 sec before the high idle started to ramp up to the 1200 rpm setting.... was a sloooow motion kind of thing!
Hotdram ..... Impressive show of maturity! It was that puff of black smoke that really got you... huh?
What did they say about availability?

I'm driving around with SW#9 loaded on mine right now. It is pretty useful for puffing smoke at people. Without any additional mods other than the ScottyAirII I don't find #9 to be touchy at all. Quite a bit more responsive and far more enjoyable to drive, but I really wouldn't call it touchy. My "Fast" approves...

Same here. "Sweetie, it's really hard for me to enjoy the sound of the engine with all that yakkin'"
Who sells the smarty? Do you run the smarty on 8 with the comp on 5x5? Does it make a difference with injectors and a comp? Just trying to figure out if it is worth the money. More info would be appreciated. Is this the MAD ECM, or similiar to it?
