Smarty fuel mileage test underway
Running SW#9, I got 17.3 mpg on a tank comprised of 400 miles of highway driving and 85 miles of city driving. Speed on the highway was generally between 65 & 70 mph, rpm about 1650 or a bit higher.
Looking at my spreadsheet, this is right in line with what I've gotten in the past. I've hit the high 18s on tanks that were all highway at speeds of 60 mph. That was also before leveling the truck and putting the 35s on it. Truck details in sig. Oh yeah, it's a late '02 with no CAD.
The sacrifices I endure in the name of science:
I'm now running SW #1, fuel saver, for the next week and a half or so in order to see what kind of mileage I get with it on my typical driving. I'll report those results next time I fill up.

I've used a quarter tank, odometer's sitting at 200. Now, the first quarter is a long one, given that when the low fuel buzzer dings I've still got 8 gallons left, but we'll see what it ends up at.
I'm bored to death, though. It seems really, really slow after #9.
But still not as slow as an '06 dually 6 speed I drove yesterday just for kicks. Man, that thing was a slug. It made me realize how badly I need a new track bar, though. Looks like Don Thuren will be getting some of my money here soon.

I just don't know how you guys can even experiment though. I loaded the stock program back in the other night and made it less than a block before I reloaded SW#9.

So here's the update: 17.3 mpg. That's about .7 mpg or so higher than I've been getting on the last few tanks on the same type of driving. Not bad at all considering the amount of stop and go we're talking about, with a heavy vehicle.
I'd run another tank through on #1, but my inner hooligan just doesn't have the discipline to do it right now.

i am seeing similar numbers, i was a bit dissapointed at the #1 setting as i had a superchips tuner and on its high perf. setting i was getting 22MPG highway, i am still trying to figure my smarty out, i'm not getting all the smoke everyone is talking about, and it acctually picks up RPM at a certain spot when i am letting off the throttle, it gets ya nervous when your coming up on a car and your feathering off the throttle and gaining speed so fast

i didnt give #1 too much of a chance, i left it on that setting for only one day, around town I was seeing 12-14 and 17-18 on the highway, it was not enough difference in milage to keep it there so i punchd #9 in again. so far its not any better or worse mileage wise from stock. i will have to give it a better chance, my truck really does not get warmed up from my 3 mile trek to work in the mornings and have not gone anyware to test it out.

Now back to the original topic:
Buy a 12 valve J/K. I do get 22mpg on the highway running between 75 and 80mph though. I do have 3:55's, and the auto(high overdrive), but I am really pleased so far.
