I am running Toyo open country MT 285/75/r16 with less than 1/2 tread at 80psi

Third low is what you'll want to pull in, I ran a set of 33 12.5's that were pretty slick for the real tight tracks and had no problems.

Softer, sandy tracks around Tx... the word is 4th gear, 4Low (just what I've observed). Apparently less spin... grabs faster.

I have over 250 hooks on my truck, I have run 265,285,305 and 315 tires with hp between 450 and 550 and have never broke anything. You should have ladder bars on the rear axle, most of the time breakage is caused by hopping, and my truck has never hopped

That would be sound advice, if she starts hopping or shaking let off the skinny pedal, I think traction bars or ladder bars would be a must.
