Sirius Radio Question
Sirius Radio Question
Any one know if our trucks are like the 3rd gens and have a place on the passenger kick panel to access a plug in for the radio antenna? I am getting the fm direct adapter for my Sirius so I don't have to deal with finding a empty channel any more. Or should I just take the radio out and do it in that local.
I couldn't find one in any of my trucks so I went two diff routes, the 97 had a aftermarket cd player with a aux input. Clearest signal by far. The other two I went to radio shack and got the switchable ant adapter, still 100 times better than switchin a station every 10 mins. I still dont understand why Sirius radio didn't make it where you can use the 87.5 (or 87 something) empty stations like you use on sperate CD changers.
mine modulates off of 87.9 ( i think). Ive never had to switch the channel on it once. I do have an aftermarket head unit though. In any case, If I was doing it again, I would wire directly with a 1 into 2 splice connection, just to get rid of the wires.

I got a FM relay from Crcthfield-- http://www.crutchfield.com/S-o8GpUI7...ay&i=607FMDA25 Just plug it into your antanana and no more switching.

thats the same thing I have on 1 truck the other I have it plugged directly in the aux port. My sirus tuner doesn't go below 88.0 I wished it did, ofcourse mine is the cheap 20 dollar version from wally world, I can't complain I have a hook up in 4 vehicles so I just carry it from vehicle to vehicle (lol even have it mounted in my tractor) The 2 way into 1 works great and its alot cheaper option than buying a new head unit. Mine came from radio shack and was 19 dollars if i remember correctly.
whelp its in and man I wish I would have done this 4yrs ago when I got my original Sirius the sound quality is so much better than before were you had to turn the radio up way loud to make it loud too hear then with that came the hiss from the static from the other stations bleeding though
Well I am brining to life a dead thread. I finally got around to putting my new antenna on and this time I ran it though the third brake light to the front of the truck were as I just had the old antenna coming out the back door on the side. So should I run a bead of silicone on the top of the light or is the foam seal for the light good enough to go around the wire? I am glad that I did this in my rush to get my radio in the truck years ago I just ran the wire under the step molding on the floor and when I was pulling all the old wires from the old antenna I found 2 spots were the wire had rubbed completely though to bare wire no wonder my signal strength was depleted. I did not even have to drop the head liner to do this I was able to get the wire and shove it under the liner and around
My 2001 has a antenna connection in the passanger kick panel just pluged in the FM adapter there and it works much better now. Actually I didnt even need to take the kick panel off its right above it. Also I just ran the other antenna on to the dash and have good reception much nicer then running it to the roof.
