Sirius radio question

I just picked up my truck last night and the sticker gave me an 800 number to call to activate Sirius. I turned on the radio and Sirius came in fine. If it works without calling, what is the puropse of calling? I was thinking I'd have to call to activate it before I'd ever receive a signal.

It has 184 channels and I'm a button pusher. I won't have enough time to drive the truck now!!

Did the dealer activate it for you? I know with mine I had to call the 800 number to get mine working.

The dealer didn't mention anything about activating it. After reading the activation instructions, Sirius needs a credit card number. I guess they need this to start charging you after the free 12 months is up. If the dealer did activate it, I hope he used his credit card. Guess I'll keep listening while it is still working. If it quits, I'll have to make the call.

They never asked me for a credit card number either and if they did I wouldn't have given them one.

You need to check some other channels as 184 is the DEMO channel and it will come up and work without the activation as a way of helping test the installation of the Sirius system in your truck. When I installed my system channel 184 was the default that it tuned to and work right out of the box but could not get other channels til I activated it.

I'm getting all the channels. 184 was the first channel that can on when I select Sirius. I looked online and got a complete list of their channels. The only channel I'm not getting is Playboy Radio channel 198. Now if that doesn't sound like a usless channel. They must discuss the articles.

Too be able to get the play boy channel you need to either call or sign up on line I think. I believe they do that only to check your age. And no I have not signed up for it. Does sound usless. Maybe they DO just read the articles, kinda like books on tape.

sirius?

I have the Big Horn edition, so do I automatically have Sirius? I know I should be getting a year free. I was playing with the stereo and can't get 184 or anything. How do you switch to Sirius? I have the cheap stereo.

Hit the "mode" button and it should switch over from terrestrial radio to satellite. I had to call to get mine activated as well. Of course they wanted me to purchase a second year right away at a "discounted" rate, but I told them I would try it out first. They also setup my account and all that good stuff so I could access it online and renew my membership if I choose too...

I just got mine hooked up and they tried to get me to sighn up for another 2 years for $130. Playboy channel =????? What is that all about. I did not take that channel, thats a accident in the making !

I have all of the channels printed out and in the truck so that I dont have to switch to a channel and wait for it to hook up, then switch, Blah, blah!!!

I like it though!

Was that really 2 years for only $130? That is a really good deal as my one year sub was just about the same price. Also, if you already have one Sirius acct. if you add a second unit too it, the second units monthly price is only something like $6.99.

And there are a couple better channels out there than the playboy channel.
