silencer ring mia?
the ring is a snap ring that is in the compressor housing of the turbo. if you take off your intake hose you will see the snap ring in the groove it holds an angled ring in place. this ring reduces the sound of the turbo. just use a screw driver and some needle nose pliers to remove it. it has no performance gains it just makes your turbo louder
you will want to remove both the snap ring and the metal disk in the opening of the turbo .I was working on a truck the other day where the guy just pulled the snap ring and the silencer ring was flopping around it the pipe
I removed mine when I got the truck, but I'm putting it back in.
I like to listen to my stereo, and the more noise in the cabin, the harder it is to hear, especially when you're trying to listen to classical. I just can't do that in my truck right now..

Heck, I went out one day to pull my ring out,
and what do you know, There is no ring in there,
Someone else must have pulled it before me.
Does anybody know if the 1992 came with a ring?

Turbos that came stock on up to 93 models did not have a silencer ring as they did not have map width enhancement slots. Only the WH1C that came in 94 and the HX35 that came in 95+ had the ring as they had the slots.

After almost fifty years of operating heavy equipment I want to preserve my hearing so I have to option of listening to any kind of music without further destroying my hearing.
Pulling the ring sort of reminds me when I was kid how we used to clothesline pin baseball cards to our bicycles so the spokes shuffled though them.
Made us feel like we were riding Harleys.
I pulled the ring, i like how it sounds, and if you guys had half as much into your stereos as u did your trucks it wouldnt matter what kind of music u cranked to overcome the noise. Plus everyone and thier mother turns to see whats coming. I cant even here it over the big and rich blarin so if you think its to loud your to old buy a geo with a sewing machine under the hood for your classical u buch of suzys
I'm 19 , had the silencer ring pulled out since monday when i put my bhaf on , and i think after just one highway trip , that silencer ring just might be going back where it came from , i like turbo whistle , but listening to it constantly for hours on end , no thanks. I have really good hearing now , and i would like to keep it.
I was gonna say I can hear my music just PEACHY with my ring removed. Although with the stereo in my truck I can't hear much of anything else but THAT!!! Can't even hear the truck
