severe lack of power after head work

ok i put it back together last night and drove it a mile to work today so it could get a good heat cycle on the head studs. obviously i wanna keep the boost down and let it all seat in good, but i have a severe lack of power. the truck wouldnt get out of its own way.

its most likely a boost leak, but i cant imagine a boost leak costing me this much power...maybe things will be better when i get the comp back on it next week.

any other suggestions?

Hmmmm, are you smoking severely? That could indicate a boost leak. Did you get your intercooler boots on tight? Check gaskets around the intake horn etc for sign of a leak (black residue). Sounds odd that you'd be that down on power without a major boost leak. Could it be that you are just not used to driving it with out the Edge Comp and forgot how it felt before? Just a couple thoughts.

there was very little/no smoke even at 3/4 throttle, 10psi max, very slow to build that 10psi. its gotta be a leak. i have to take it apart to re-torque tonight anyway so ill check it all. i hope my comp comes back by tomorrow tho just so i can see if there really is a problem or if its all in my head.

Check all the intake and exhuast connections and gaskets...Also make sure you got all the little bolts back into the intake manifold. I lost a couple of those once...also lost 20psi from the twins. Good thing I found them

well after you get you comp on that will give you a good comparison. Plus you'll have another torque under your belt so you can run it a little harder.

well i drove it to work today, and back (2 miles) let it cool and did a re-torque. one at a time i took the nuts all the way off and added a dab more of the ARP lube and torqued them down to 122ft-lbs. i will go back and do them again in about a month or 500 miles.

i figured out my low power issue...turned out to be simple. my comp is with UPS being deliver to me tomorrow, i left the wiring harness on the truck. AKA-no map sensor/boost fooler with out the comp box being plugged in. therefore, no power, no boost, and no fuel. plugged the map sensor back in and wow, the truck runs great, plenty of power without the box being ont he truck, but the fun quickly stops as you can feel it nose dive when the wastegate slams open at 30 psi. it pulls great until it hits 30psi tho, which only takes about 2 seconds in any gear.

this isnt a stock gasket, they have to be modified by someone to fit on a 12v, hence the higher cost

then it's not a marine gasket because a marine gasket is just an OEM 12v gasket.

what are you running?

Im assuming the marine gasket is thicker? What do you gain by using this over the original one? Does it affect compression and spray pattern?

i think he meant to fit on to a (((((24V))))). they are made for a 12v but wont fit on a 24v unless modified. and yes Doug at PDW has the lowest price by far for the gasket. its 195$$. pretty cheap if you ask me for that good of a gasket

when you buy from dougs its already modded for a 24v. its a thick heavy piece of material, very high quality. add that to my o-rings and studs and i think ill be good for awhile if i did everything right
