Rough idle with the Edge???
Rough idle with the Edge???
The other morning when I left work it was kinda cool out (45º). When I fired up the beast I noticed that the idle was pretty rough untill the motor was at total running temp and then some. Anyone else with an Edge EZ and an 03 HO noticed this?

I thought it was pretty normal for a diesel to idle rough until it warmed up...especially in cooler/cold weather.

Pretty much, is this your first diesel???
Wait untill it is -20 and you forget to plug it in, then you will see a rough idle
atleast untill the high idle kicks in.

You talkin' to me or him?? If me, then yes, this is my first diesel. Regarding the -20....well, I'd have to move to see those kinds of temps. ;D

FORGET what it feels like?? I'd have to KNOW what it feels like before I could forget it!!
The coldest temperatures I've experienced were probably low teens. However, the wind chill down here sure can make it feel awfully cold. Burrr!!!
Ahem....back on topic now. :

At 45F, I usually have a little lope to my idle, but nothing too serious. Pull the Edge box off the truck the next time it happens and see if the rough idle goes away. Then you'll at least be able to narrow it down.

Mine idles very smooth with the Bully box, but I usually flip it off in the morning. I park outside but the coolest night we've had so far has been around 50, usually upper 50s when I leave for work at 7 am.

I agree, just wait till it is really cold. It will sound like your engine is coming apart the first few seconds. But a rough idle when start up is normal until it gets warm, just like any other diesel
