Can 17 inch rims off of a 3rd generation dodge be mounted on a 96 2500. If so what type of spacer is used? What are the differences in the two rims as far as mounting?

I have wondered this also. I have thought more than once about just switching my dad's tires onto my truck in the middle of the night, just to see how long it would take to notice

 

bolts right on with no spacers the center caps seemed to be not as deep as the 2nds but they went on. my 95 which I sold i had put on a set from my neighbors 03' when he upgraded rims and tires. I gained about 1-2 inches too, but to make the deal work when I sold the 95 the rims went with but I got a better truck with half the miles so I'm happy now
