Rattley NV5600

My dad has had nothing but trouble with his NV 5600. He has this in a 1993 one ton 2wdrive. It has about 3000 mile's on a rebuild, It rattdle's in neutral and has got so bad when is hot you can't hear the engine run. So far tranny works good. What's goning on? Second rebuild in 10,000 mile's. Two different well know rebuilder's.

ONLY in neutral? clutch in or out?

the dual disk clutch in my old truck rattled so loud that I regularly got "experienced" guys tell me I should "get it checked out" as soon as they heard it. It was amusing at first. irritating after the 25th time.

only when the clutch is out in neutral. The rebuilder road in the truck, didn't know what it was. The tranny is out and there going to look at it.

good thing the rebuilder is taking ownership. nice to see. sounds like bad setup on the input bearing. but who knows. let the rebuilder warrantee it.

Now he says it's not going to the rebuilder. Don't trust his employees after walking through the place. Is't some place in Angola Indania the rebuilt it the seconed time and the first time what some place in Columbus Ohio. Both were are well know places. He told me tonight that he's taking it to some guy the acts like he nows what he's talking about thats local. Lansing MI

well whatever, its not my money. But if it goes somewhere other than the rebuilder you can be sure there will be Zero warrantee from this point on.

Try Rockland Standard gear maybe? I have heard good things about them and I think they are close by.

After the last time of an overhaul a local place in lansing this time. This is the Fourth time tare down. Still had some noise hot. Dad Replace the clutch, took out the heavy duty clutch with too heave of a damper in it. Now problem solved.

It could have been the springs in the clutch pack. Mine is a little noisy when in N and clutch out also.

Thats what we figure. Possibably to strong of springs, or just loose.

I think they are loose until the pressure plates starts to grab it and then it smooths out the clutch release.

Mines a Southbend Dynamax MU1947 Con.OFE IIRC
