Rancho traction bars

Well my favorite fellow showed up again today, this time he brung me my rancho traction bars. Don't get in a tussel, because to know Rancho doesn't offer a traction bar for our dodges. But, since I had a set on a chevy, and I new there length and mounting brackets, I ordered ones for it, and then just made the rear mount. Out trucks (2500 and 3500's) have a bigger spring with a larger spacing the the chevy 1500, so I just made a new rear mount and it bolted right on. Looks great, they are of coarse red powder coated, thats there company colors. Sets the truck off nice, I haven't driven it yet, I still have the front end off, and since that came today also, I'll be getting on it. It's ashame that Rancho don't make the traction bars for the Dodge, there is very little that they would have to do to make them fit. Oh well, guess they are missing out on a un-tapped market.

Re:Rancho traction bars

Today I got to take the truck for a small test drive, and was very pleased. Everything worked great and together. The traction bars seem to move smoothly and work as addvertised. Of coarse you will remember these were bars for a late model chevy 1500 4x4, and I just made a rear mount for them. I'll get more miles on them and see what they do.

Am I the only one who thinks that these might be a little weak in design for all the torque of a Cummins? ???

Watched a guy bend some traction bars at Scheid this year, got it on tape! He got to about 260-270 feet and started hoping and one of the last couple of hop's before he clutched it they bent straight down!

Re:Rancho traction bars

I don't think I will ever bend them. I had the same bars on a chev, and never bent them. the big ole cummins has alot of torque, but I have never snaped an axle, spit out a drive shaft, or twisted a motor mount in half? I have done all of this in other trucks? they are made of 1 1/2" x .188 wall Dom and are guseted on the ends. I have a set of FABRITECH bars on a pre-runner that might look beefier, but probally are not half as stout. I will post if one bends, deal?
