raced a new GTO

well i no alot of people are against street racing but i couldnt resist. took my truck and there was a 2005 GTO with a whipple charger on it and he said it was running 12.4s all day. i told him i would race him and if he spunn his tires off the line at all to just stay home and not race me. well he started talkin this and that about my truck so we lined them up. launched in 4x4 at 35psi with all the goodies in my sig on, and whooped him my 5 truck lenghs. it was great. after that, he and a bunch of other guys gave me their buisness cards and said they would be honered to cruise with me sometime and that i had the fastest truck they had ever seen

Thats awesome, but your right that seems real risky cuz don't they crack the whip hard on street racers in CA?

street racing is something that is kinda dangerous for other ppl but I have friends that spend thousands to be the fastest on the streets. my buddy had an 03 cobra (700rwhp) that I rode with alot that would outrun some fast street bikes, that was pretty amazing. that is impressive for a truck that big to outrun a quick car though. they should be impressed, your truck weighs double that car if not more.

I heard something awhile back, that the cops will actually confiscate, and send cars caught street racing to the crusher! Maybe this was in LA only, or I have the facts wrong.

Wow, a 35psi boosted launch, that pretty high, I hope you did not hold the truck long at that much boost, that is how i fried my tranny last year. I had it there for what i thought was a fraction of a second, but i guess that was too long, good win none the less

It don't matter what tranny you have, holding 35psi of boost at the line is gonna find the weak points real quick.

Can be up too 6 months in the slammer and have your truck in the impound for 6 months aswell. Plus fines!

he asked what i had dont to it and i told him i painted the engine bay and put a air filter on it. i dont like poping the hood for any one BUT diesel guys. i dont like the gassers to see what i have. you guys are not going to believe this but like i have said before, i had sold my full billet DTT to my buddy and i did that last night with a stock tranny and stock TC what had happened is these 2 guys here in fresno both have pretty pumped up GTOs and were talkin smack to a mutual friend saying they had 2 of the fastest rides in fresno. dont get me wrong, my truck is not the fastest in the world but on the street, i get pretty much everything if i do a 4x4 launch. well this guy finally found me and we drove to a road way out in the country. it was only me, him, 2 of his buddies, and my gf. wasnt like i went to the races lookin to race but when he talked smack, i had to do it!!!!!!!!!!he said he dynoed at 489 to the wheels and i told him i was a little over 500 and said i probably would run a mid to low 13 if i did a boosted launch. well after we raced, he let me barrow his Gtec and i ran a 12.92 on his Gtec so either it was lying or my truck is a FREAK of nature as i have stated before. sorry for the long post its just i am proud of my truck

35 psi launch with a stock tranny- I'm glad for you that you spanked the gto instead of spilling parts on the road

BTW are you sure you're not a Texan?

im the hater here...NO WAY a stock tranny held all that power AND a 35 psi boosted launch AND beat a low 13 second car.

call me a hater i dont care, but before you hit 35psi on a stock tranny while building boost the input or output would shatter and the TC would have nearly melted itself...

then you say this GTO had 489hp...that is now a low 12 to high 11 sec car. 4x4 launch with 500hp in a cummins wont beat that unless he spun thru 6 gears, or he launched in 6th and bogged it.

i call it like i see it, but nice story tho

I don't think he has a stock tranny... But yea, It's amazing the force that tranny has to hold at 35 psi.
